The Fleshtones in Your Stocking

Garage rock's elder statesmen The Fleshtones released a holiday CD called Stocking Stuffer this fall that is available on Yep Roc records. In addition, they recently appeared on the Cherry Blossom Clinic (hosted by Terre T.) on WFMU to perform some songs from their Xmas album live. You can still listen to the live performance here.

Big in Germany

Dan Baird, former lead singer of the Georgia Satellites, solo artist, and member of the Yahoos, has released a new record this year called Dan Baird & the Homemade Sin that sees him teaming up with Warner Hodges, former guitarist for Jason & the Scorchers. And it also has former Georgia Satellite member Mauro Magellan on drums. If you didn't hear about this record, don't worry, neither did I. Like a lot of recent efforts for Baird, they are only getting released in Germany. This one is no different and you can get yourself a copy through Germany's Blue Rose Records online shop.

Tell Me a Tale from Bonnaroo

The Raconteurs have released a Bonnaroo version of their latest single 'Old Enough.' The regular single contained that song (which features Ricky Scaggs and Ashley Monroe with the band) and a bluegrass version of 'Top Yourself.' But, this new version of the single, which is only available as a 7" contains the song 'Old Enough' which was recorded at the 2008 Bonnaroo festival. And the b-side contains an acoustic version of the same song that was recorded backstage at Bonnaroo. It can be purchased here.

In addition, the band are streaming several of their fall UK live shows on their website.

The second disc is a collection of rehearsals for the album Everclear which is appropriately titled The Everclear Rehearsals Late 1990. And the third disc is The Mercury Band Demos April 1992. Get them while you can as they are very limited; disc one (1500 copies), disc 2 (600 copies), and disc 3 (700 copies).

Note 12/21/08: Unfortunately it looks like eMusic is no longer making the digital single available to U.S. customers.
